Season 1
Hundreds of cash-strapped players accept a strange invitation to compete in children's games. Inside, a tempting prize awaits — with deadly high stakes.
Season Ending
In the season finale of "Squid Game," it all comes down to Seong Gi-hun and Cho Sang-woo in the final showdown. The game is a lethal version of the children's game, Squid Game, and it's as brutal as you'd expect. Gi-hun gains the upper hand but refuses to kill Sang-woo, instead offering to end the game by invoking the third clause that allows both players to walk away if they agree. Sang-woo, however, decides to end things on his own terms and stabs himself in the neck, handing victory to Gi-hun. He asks Gi-hun to take care of his mother before dying. Gi-hun wins the prize money but is left traumatized by what he's experienced. A year later, Gi-hun is living a miserable life despite his newfound wealth. He discovers the old man, Oh Il-nam, was behind the games all along and is invited to one last meeting where Il-nam explains his twisted rationale. After Il-nam dies, Gi-hun decides to use his winnings for good and makes plans to stop the games for good. However, as he's about to leave for a new life in America, he changes his mind at the last minute and resolves to bring down the organizers instead.
