S1E6: Gganbu

In "Squid Game" Episode 6, things take a turn for the heart-wrenching when the contestants find themselves playing a deadly game of marbles. Each player pairs up, assuming they'll work together, only to learn that they're actually pitted against each other. The goal: win all of your partner's marbles within 30 minutes. Gi-hun, paired with the elderly Oh Il-nam, initially tries to play fair but resorts to trickery when Il-nam appears confused and vulnerable. Sang-woo, on the other hand, ruthlessly deceives Ali by switching out his marbles for stones. Kang Sae-byeok and Ji-yeong spend most of their time talking about their lives before Ji-yeong sacrifices herself, letting Sae-byeok win. The episode delivers an emotional blow as we see the aftermath of these betrayals and sacrifices. As the winners move on to the next round, the defeated contestants are executed. Gi-hun is visibly shaken by the loss of Il-nam, whom he tricked into losing his marbles, while Ali's trust in Sang-woo proves fatal. The brutal game leaves those who survived questioning their humanity.
