Episode Ending
In the first episode of "The Simpsons," titled "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire," we find the Simpson family facing a financial crisis during Christmas time. Homer learns he won't be getting a Christmas bonus, which is bad news considering Marge had to use their savings to remove a tattoo Bart got. In a last-ditch effort to save Christmas, Homer secretly takes a job as a mall Santa. Unfortunately, his paycheck is far less than expected. Clinging to hope, Homer and Bart head to the dog track with their meager earnings, betting on a greyhound named Santa's Little Helper. Predictably, the dog loses the race, leaving them empty-handed. However, fate smiles on them when Santa's Little Helper is abandoned by his owner and finds his way to Homer and Bart. They bring the dog home, and despite the financial mess, the family embraces their new pet, turning what could have been a disastrous holiday into a heartwarming one.
