S2E1: Bart Gets an 'F'
Bart fails four consecutive history exams and the school psychiatrist recommends that Bart repeat the fourth grade.
Episode Ending
In the "Simpsons" Season 2 opener, Bart becomes a star when he scores a game-winning touchdown for his school's football team. Naturally, Homer jumps on the opportunity to bask in his son's glory, even though Bart's success is more about luck than skill. As Bart's fame grows, he gets recruited for an all-star team. But surprise, surprise — when it comes down to crunch time in the big game, Bart is benched. The coach realizes Bart isn't exactly the team's secret weapon and decides to play the more capable players instead. Meanwhile, Homer, ever the supportive dad, pressures Bart to perform, but it becomes clear that Bart isn't cut out for the big leagues. In the end, the team loses, and Bart's short-lived athletic career fizzles out. He returns to his usual antics at home, much to everyone's relief — especially his own.
