The Simpsons go to a Monster truck rally that features famous daredevil Lance Murdock. Bart immediately becomes enamored and decides that he wants to become a daredevil as well. His first stunt ends in injury, but to gain the respect of his friends, he promises a far more impressive feat to them: to jump the Springfield Gorge.

After Bart's dangerous obsession with performing stunts reaches its peak, he attempts to jump Springfield Gorge on his skateboard. Naturally, Homer tries to stop him but ends up accidentally taking the plunge himself. The resulting chaos sees Homer tumbling painfully down the gorge, only to be airlifted out by a helicopter. But because this is The Simpsons, the humor doesn't stop there. The stretcher carrying Homer gets dropped again, sending him back down the cliff for a second round of punishment. The episode closes with Homer battered and bandaged in the hospital, while Bart promises never to attempt another stunt. Whether he learns his lesson is anyone’s guess, but one thing's for sure: Homer’s not jumping any more gorges anytime soon.
