Episode Ending
In "The Simpsons" Season 2, Episode 12, titled "The Way We Was," we take a nostalgic trip back to 1974 to see how Homer and Marge first met. Young Homer sees Marge for the first time in high school and is instantly smitten, despite Marge being more focused on her studies and activism. Homer concocts a plan to win Marge's heart by joining the debate team, only to embarrass himself spectacularly. Undeterred, he asks her to the prom, but after learning he lied about being on the team, Marge agrees to go with the more sophisticated Artie Ziff instead. On prom night, things go awry when Artie makes an unwanted advance on Marge, leading her to realize she should be with someone who respects her. She leaves Artie and tracks down Homer, who is despondently walking home. The episode ends with Marge offering Homer a ride home, planting the seeds of their future relationship.
