S2E20: The War of the Simpsons

In "The Simpsons" Season 2, Episode 20, titled "The War of the Simpsons," Homer and Marge head to a marriage counseling retreat at Catfish Lake. Marge hopes to repair their relationship, but Homer has other plans: he wants to catch the legendary catfish, General Sherman. While at the retreat, Homer sneaks off to fish and manages to hook General Sherman. The enormous fish gives him quite a fight, but Homer eventually catches it. However, when Marge catches him with the fish, she's disappointed. Realizing he's about to lose Marge for good, Homer lets the fish go to show that he values his marriage more than the trophy. Meanwhile, back in Springfield, Grandpa is left in charge of Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. Chaos predictably ensues, but they manage to keep things relatively under control until Homer and Marge return. By the end of the episode, Homer's gesture at the lake helps patch things up with Marge, and they head home together, leaving General Sherman as just another fish story.
