S7E1: Who Shot Mr. Burns? (2)

In the episode "Who Shot Mr. Burns? (Part Two)," we pick up with Springfield in chaos after Mr. Burns is shot. The police, led by Chief Wiggum, are on the case but not exactly making leaps in detective work. After a series of red herrings and false leads, Homer becomes a prime suspect due to his threatening behavior toward Mr. Burns and his inability to remember what happened. However, it turns out that the real culprit is none other than Maggie Simpson. In a flashback, it's revealed that Mr. Burns tried to steal candy from her, and during the struggle, his gun went off, shooting him accidentally. The case wraps up with everyone back to their usual antics, with no charges filed against Maggie because, well, she's a baby. Mr. Burns wakes up with amnesia but quickly regains his memory upon seeing Maggie again. He decides to let it go — perhaps because he's been bested by a toddler or simply because there's nothing he can do about it without looking even more foolish. Life in Springfield returns to its bizarre normalcy, as it always does.
