
S7E17: Homer the Smithers
Forced to take a vacation, Smithers needs to find a temporary replacement who won't outshine him. Homer seems the perfect choice until a sudden outburst forces Mr. Burns to assert his independence.
Episode Ending
In "The Simpsons" Season 7, Episode 17, titled "Homer vs. Patty and Selma," the episode wraps up with Homer finding himself in debt to Patty and Selma after a failed investment in pumpkins. To avoid losing his house, he reluctantly accepts their help but is subjected to their torment as a result. Meanwhile, Bart finds himself in trouble at school after failing to fulfill his gym class requirements. He ends up taking ballet and surprisingly excels at it. However, when his classmates discover his new talent, they mock him, leading to an embarrassing confrontation during a recital. By the end of the episode, Patty and Selma's reign of terror over Homer comes to an end when their secret of smoking at work is almost exposed. Homer covers for them, and in gratitude, they forgive his debt. Bart gains a newfound confidence after standing up for himself during the recital mishap. As always, things return to a dysfunctional normal for the Simpson family.
