Episode Ending
In "Simpsonlar - S8E8: Episode 8," which is actually titled "Hurricane Neddy," a hurricane hits Springfield, but miraculously spares every house except for the Flanders' home, which is completely destroyed. While Ned Flanders tries to maintain his usual optimistic demeanor, the stress eventually gets to him. He snaps and checks himself into a mental institution after yelling at the townspeople who attempted to rebuild his house in a disastrous fashion. At the mental institution, Ned undergoes therapy, where Dr. Foster reveals that Ned's repressed anger stems from his childhood. As a child, he was subjected to experimental treatments by a psychotherapist that forced him to suppress his emotions. This revelation helps Ned confront his issues and attempt to deal with his feelings more openly. The episode wraps up with Ned returning home, where he tries to manage his temper more constructively. He thanks Homer for being a true friend despite all the chaos, and the two share a moment of camaraderie. And just like that, life in Springfield returns to its usual brand of odd normalcy.
