Alarmed by a soccer riot, Homer buys a handgun. His reckless behavior drives Marge and the kids out of the house, and even his new gun club buddies desert him.
Episode Ending
In the episode titled "The Cartridge Family," things spiral out of control in classic Simpson style. After a soccer riot breaks out, Homer decides he needs to protect his family by purchasing a gun. This decision predictably leads to chaos as Homer demonstrates his usual lack of responsibility with firearms. Marge, quite sensibly, is not thrilled about having a gun in the house and insists that Homer get rid of it. Homer, being Homer, agrees but secretly keeps the gun. When Marge finds out, she takes the kids and leaves him, heading to a seedy motel to think things over. Homer eventually realizes he has to make a choice between his family and his new toy. In a rare moment of clarity, he decides to get rid of the gun. Marge returns home, and just when you think everything's back to normal, it's revealed that the gun is still around — cleverly hidden in a box labeled "NO GUN." So much for lessons learned.
