S9E20: The Trouble with Trillions

In the "Simpsons" episode titled "The Trouble with Trillions," things take a turn for the absurd, as they often do in Springfield. Homer finds himself in a bind after failing to file his taxes correctly. To avoid jail time, he becomes an undercover informant for the government, tasked with retrieving a trillion-dollar bill that was lost during World War II. Homer, along with Mr. Burns and Smithers, tracks down the elusive bill. Naturally, Mr. Burns has no intention of giving it back to the government. Instead, he dreams of using it to buy Cuba and turn it into his personal paradise. The three of them head to Cuba, where they try to make their deal with Fidel Castro. In a classic display of Springfield's finest decision-making, Castro tricks them into showing him the trillion-dollar bill and then simply refuses to give it back. With their plan foiled and no bill to show for their efforts, Homer, Mr. Burns, and Smithers return home empty-handed. Back in Springfield, life goes on as usual with no real consequences for anyone involved — just another day in the life of Homer Simpson.
