S12E1: Treehouse of Horror XI
This year's Halloween story sees The Simpsons as "The Munsters" (with everyone except Lisa getting killed), Homer as a wandering spirit on the hunt for a good deed in "G-G-Ghost D-D-Dad," Bart and Lisa as peasants in a fairy tale forest in "Scary Tales Can Come True," and Lisa inadvertently dooming mankind by rescuing a dolphin in "Night of the Dolphin."
Episode Ending
In "Simpsonlar - S12E1," Homer becomes the object of a practical joke by Bart and Milhouse, who fill the family car with popcorn. This causes Homer to crash the car into a barn, which somehow makes him the town hero. Go figure. Feeling unworthy of his newfound status, Homer decides to take the family on a trip to the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C., after winning a trip through a contest. Once there, Lisa is inspired by a patriotic essay contest and decides to enter, planning to write about how great America is. However, while exploring the capital, Lisa witnesses a corrupt congressman accepting a bribe, which sours her view on American politics. In her essay, she exposes the congressman’s corruption, shaking up the competition and resulting in an uproar. The episode concludes with Lisa's essay causing scandal in Washington but ultimately being ignored, as everyone returns to their regular lives. Typical Springfield ending.
