Homer finds that he excels at the job, but then he runs afoul of mob boss Fat Tony, who threatens Homer with death unless he leaves town.

In the final episode of the thirteenth season, titled "Poppa's Got a Brand New Badge," the power goes out in Springfield due to an unexpected heat wave. Naturally, this leads to chaos, because what else would you expect from Springfield? The police force is overwhelmed, and Chief Wiggum is as useful as a chocolate teapot. Homer steps up to restore order by founding his own security company, "SpringShield," with Lenny and Carl as his trusty sidekicks. They manage to bring some semblance of peace to the town, which is a minor miracle. But then, Fat Tony isn't too thrilled about Homer muscling in on his territory and decides it's time to pay him a little visit. When Fat Tony and his goons confront Homer at home, things are looking pretty grim for our donut-loving hero. But just as Homer is about to meet his maker, Maggie appears with a rifle and scares the mobsters off. Yes, you read that right. Maggie saves the day, leaving everyone wondering what else that pacifier-sucking toddler can do. The episode closes with Springfield returning to its usual level of mayhem.
