Homer is injured while attending church; he sues Reverend Lovejoy and is awarded the deed to the church. He throws a huge house-warming party, in which all of the partiers drink and engage in sinful activities. It suddenly starts raining and the town begins to flood. The townspeople flee to the roof of the church. Homer tries praying again but the flood keeps rising. Reverend Lovejoy returns in a helicopter and leads everyone in prayer, asking God to forgive them, and the rain stops.

Episode Ending

In the "Simpsonlar" episode titled "Pray Anything," Homer discovers the power of prayer after hearing Ned Flanders talk about its benefits. Homer decides to test it out and begins praying for everything he wants, leading to some rather convenient outcomes. His prayers initially bring him luck, culminating in a win in a lawsuit against the church, which grants him ownership of the building. Homer promptly turns the church into his own personal palace, complete with all sorts of indulgences. As you might expect, this doesn't sit well with the townspeople or with Reverend Lovejoy, who is now without a congregation. The church becomes a chaotic party house, with Homer reveling in his newfound domain. However, Homer's luck takes a downturn when a rainstorm hits Springfield, flooding the town. The disaster is seen as divine retribution for Homer's misuse of the church. In the end, Homer learns his lesson about abusing prayer for selfish purposes and returns the church to its rightful owners. The episode wraps up with everything more or less back to normal—Springfield's way of saying 'lesson learned' until next time.
