The Simpsons take in a country singer Homer used to manage who owes back taxes to Springfield. She is now destitute, so the family tries to help her get back on her feet.

In "The Simpsons" Season 19, Episode 16, titled "Papa Don't Leech," the episode revolves around Springfield discovering that country music singer Lurleen Lumpkin has become a fugitive due to unpaid taxes. The town decides to help her out by hosting a benefit concert. Marge takes Lurleen into her home, and Lurleen reveals that she has unresolved issues with her estranged father, Royce. Marge, ever the problem solver, orchestrates a reunion between Lurleen and Royce at the benefit concert. Things take a turn when Royce steals Lurleen's new song and performs it himself. In the end, Lurleen reconciles with her father after he admits his wrongdoing. With the song returned to its rightful owner, Lurleen gets back on track with her music career. The episode wraps up with the Simpson family returning to their usual antics, content that they've helped an old friend find her way again.
