Season 20

In the season finale of "The Simpsons" Season 20, titled "Coming to Homerica," Springfield faces an unexpected crisis. The neighboring town of Ogdenville experiences an economic collapse due to tainted barley, which in turn causes a massive influx of Ogdenvillians to Springfield. As the townspeople of Springfield try to cope with the sudden increase in population, tensions rise. Homer, never one to shy away from a leadership role when chaos is afoot, organizes a town meeting. The citizens decide to build a wall to keep out the Ogdenvillians. In classic Homer style, he appoints himself as head of the construction crew, which leads to predictable bumbling and inefficiency. Meanwhile, Marge shows her characteristic empathy and tries to bridge the divide between the two communities. As construction on the wall progresses, both towns realize they've gotten themselves into a bit of a pickle. Eventually, Springfieldians and Ogdenvillians come together, working side by side, proving that cooperation is possible even when initial plans go hilariously awry. The wall, now complete, is repurposed as a bridge between the towns. And so, peace is restored with a solution that only Springfield could come up with: turning division into unity in the most literal way possible.
