Season 25

In the season finale of "The Simpsons" Season 25, titled "The Yellow Badge of Cowardge," Springfield is abuzz with excitement for the annual Fourth of July celebrations, which include a fireworks show and a traditional race. Bart, feeling the pressure to win the race, ends up cheating by tripping his classmate Nelson Muntz. This, predictably, leads to Bart being hailed as the unlikely hero of the event. Meanwhile, Homer is tasked with organizing the fireworks display but, in classic Homer fashion, forgets to order them. As a last-minute fix, he tries to pull together an impromptu show using a bunch of outdated fireworks he finds in the attic. This predictably results in a chaotic yet entertaining display that only Springfield could appreciate. Back at the race aftermath, Bart's guilt over cheating weighs heavily on him. When Milhouse takes the fall for Bart's actions and becomes the town pariah, Bart is torn between enjoying his newfound fame and doing the right thing. Eventually, Bart comes clean about his cheating and apologizes to Nelson. In turn, Nelson forgives him in his own unique way — by beating him up. The episode wraps up with everyone gathered for the fireworks display. Despite Homer's slapdash efforts, the town is still delighted by the spectacle. As they all watch the show in awe (or confusion), it's just another day in Springfield where chaos and comedy blend seamlessly into everyday life.
