Season 26

In the season finale of "The Simpsons" Season 26, we find Springfield in turmoil as the nuclear power plant is at risk of meltdown. It's not a typical day for Homer, who, after a series of mishaps, finds himself in charge of preventing the disaster. Naturally, chaos ensues as Homer tries to navigate the crisis with his usual blend of incompetence and dumb luck. Meanwhile, Lisa, ever the voice of reason, takes it upon herself to rally the town to address the environmental impact of their beloved power plant. She manages to get through to Mr. Burns, who is surprisingly receptive to her ideas—probably because he sees a chance for profit rather than genuine concern for the environment. Bart, in his usual fashion, decides to capitalize on the chaos by selling "nuclear meltdown survival kits," which are essentially just empty boxes. Marge spends most of the episode trying to keep Maggie from swallowing any small parts from Bart's kits while also dealing with her own existential crisis about living in a town that could blow up any second. The episode wraps up with Homer accidentally averting the meltdown by doing something as simple as plugging in a loose cable. The town is saved, but no one's learned anything valuable—as usual. The family gathers at home for dinner, and life in Springfield returns to its chaotic normalcy.
