As the first season of "One Piece" sails to its conclusion, Luffy and his motley crew of misfits find themselves facing off against the formidable Marine Captain, Axe-Hand Morgan. Luffy's rubbery antics come in handy as he and his new friend Zoro, a swordsman with a penchant for getting lost, manage to defeat Morgan and liberate the town from his tyrannical rule. Naturally, this earns them both a place on the Marines' most-wanted list. With the oppressive captain out of the way, Luffy picks up another crewmate, Nami, a navigator with sticky fingers and a knack for treasure maps. The trio sets their sights on the Grand Line, the infamous ocean route where the One Piece is rumored to be hidden. Before they can embark on this grand journey, they have to deal with Buggy the Clown, a pirate with a devil fruit power that makes him as hard to pin down as Luffy himself. After some strategic clowning around, Buggy is defeated — though he does leave behind a grudge and a promise of future trouble. The season wraps up with Luffy and his crew finally acquiring a ship, which they christen Going Merry. As they set sail for the Grand Line, Luffy is more determined than ever to find the One Piece and claim his title as King of the Pirates. The season closes with a shot of the open sea ahead of them, full of promise and peril — but mostly peril, because let's face it, this is "One Piece."
