S1E3: Chapter Three: Holly, Jolly
An increasingly concerned Nancy looks for Barb and finds out what Jonathan's been up to. Joyce is convinced Will is trying to talk to her.
Episode Ending
In the third episode of "Stranger Things" Season 1, things ramp up as Hopper and his team find a fragment of a hospital gown near the water at the quarry, raising more questions than answers about Will’s disappearance. Meanwhile, Joyce is convinced that Will is communicating with her through the lights in her house, leading to an emotional moment when she hears him, but of course, nobody else believes her. Nancy is worried about Barb, who is still missing after the party at Steve’s house. She returns to Steve's place to look for clues and finds Barb's car still parked outside. This only deepens her concern that something terrible has happened to her friend. Speaking of friends, Mike, Lucas, and Dustin continue their search for Will with Eleven’s help. They uncover that “The Upside Down” may be more than just a game term. The episode ends with a chilling scene where Joyce uses Christmas lights to communicate with Will, who spells out “R-U-N” on the wall. The wall then bulges with a mysterious figure trying to break through. Joyce flees the house in terror, making it clear that whatever is happening goes beyond just a missing kid.
