S2E5: Chapter Five: Dig Dug
Nancy and Jonathan swap conspiracy theories with a new ally as Eleven searches for someone from her past. “Bob the Brain” tackles a difficult problem.
Episode Ending
In "Stranger Things" Season 2, Episode 5, things get increasingly tense as the gang faces more supernatural threats. Hopper, being the relentless investigator he is, finds himself trapped in the tunnels beneath Hawkins after digging too deep—literally and metaphorically. The tunnels are part of the Upside Down’s network, and they’re not exactly tourist-friendly. Meanwhile, Joyce is busy deciphering Will's cryptic drawings. After a lightbulb moment—because everything in Hawkins involves lightbulbs—she figures out that Will’s drawings are a map of the tunnels. While she’s connecting the dots, literally, Bob joins in to help. It turns out his puzzle-solving skills are pretty handy outside of RadioShack too. Back at Hawkins Lab, Dr. Owens and his crew are still trying to get a grip on the situation, but as usual, they’re a step behind. Eleven, on her own little side quest, discovers her mother Terry Ives and learns more about her past through a series of psychic flashbacks. Meanwhile, Dustin ropes Steve into his plan to deal with Dart, the Demogorgon pet that's grown a bit too big for comfort. The episode closes with everyone scrambling to save Hopper from his subterranean predicament and Will collapsing due to his connection with the Mind Flayer becoming more intense. It’s safe to say things aren’t looking up in Hawkins.
