Season 1

So, Subaru's little jaunt in an alternate dimension wraps up with him finally managing to save everyone from the crazy cultists and their pet killer rabbit. After a series of deaths that would make a cat envious of his nine lives, Subaru confronts the Sin Archbishop of Sloth, Petelgeuse Romanée-Conti, and, after a lot of trial and error (emphasis on error), he figures out how to take him down for good. Spoiler: it involves Subaru getting possessed and then using Julius to slice and dice his own body. Fun times. With the immediate threat out of the way, Subaru heads back to the capital, where he finds out that Emilia's election speech didn't exactly go as planned. He decides it's time for an emotional confession session instead of more fighting. So, in a grand gesture that includes a lot of yelling and heartfelt declarations, Subaru finally tells Emilia he loves her. She doesn't exactly reciprocate with the same level of enthusiasm but hey, baby steps. The season ends on a somewhat hopeful note with Subaru and Emilia sitting together, looking at the sunrise as they contemplate what’s next. It's like they're thinking about all the future death loops they’ll have to endure, but for now, they're just enjoying the moment. Sure, there are still plenty of loose ends and ominous threats lurking around, but for once, Subaru gets a brief respite from his constant reincarnation nightmare.
