S3E1: The Rickshank Rickdemption
The Smith family tries to cope without Rick, which is painful enough on its own without taking into consideration the stifling rules put into place by the Federation. Meanwhile Rick's past is finally revealed as he attempts to get out of his prison
Episode Ending
In the final stretch of "Rick and Morty" Season 3, Episode 1, Rick completes his elaborate plan to escape the Galactic Federation prison. He does this by transferring his consciousness into a younger version of himself and then jumping through various Ricks' bodies until he regains control of his original one. Classic Rick move. Meanwhile, Morty and Summer, who have been trying to rescue Rick, end up in the Citadel of Ricks. There, they find themselves in a standoff with various Ricks and Mortys, including an alternate version of Rick who’s intent on stopping them. Things look grim until our Rick arrives, takes over, and causes chaos among the Council of Ricks. Back on Earth, Rick's plan reaches its climax as he successfully destabilizes the Galactic Federation's economy by manipulating their currency. This results in the Federation abandoning Earth in a hurry. Rick returns home with Morty and Summer, where he reclaims his role as head of the household. Jerry, who’s been at odds with Rick, is presented with an ultimatum from Beth: it's either him or her father. Jerry's out, and Rick caps it all off by declaring his new grand goal: getting that McDonald's Szechuan sauce back. Because priorities.
