Episode Ending
In "Rick and Morty" Season 4, Episode 2, things kick off with Rick and Morty on an adventure to harvest death crystals. Morty gets his hands on one that shows him a vision of dying with Jessica, which understandably messes with his priorities. Morty becomes obsessed with following the crystal's guidance, leading to a series of increasingly reckless decisions. Meanwhile, Rick dies in a mishap and is reborn in a series of alternate universe clones, each more bizarre than the last. His attempts to return to his original reality are constantly thwarted by fascist regimes, which seems to be a running gag. As Morty's crystal-driven antics escalate, he inadvertently awakens an army of hologram Ricks bent on correcting his course. Just when things look dire, the real Rick finally makes it back to his universe and intervenes. In the end, Morty realizes the futility of chasing an idealized future and reluctantly lets go of the crystal's hold on him. Rick restores some semblance of normalcy, as much as that's possible in their universe.
